Completed Work on my painting Death of Bee, 22x28" acrylic on panel.
When I was young I grew up next to an orange grove along the Indian River in Florida. Every spring the owner would bring in the man-made honeybee hives and line the boxes up in rows in an open field next to the grove. The bees always fascinated me, watching them fly around and pollinate the orange blossoms.
As most of you know, honeybees are having a ruff time of it, and that there is a real possibility we could loss them altogether. In my painting I have decided to uses a pop surrealist style to express my feelings and concerns for the bees and their plight. The original and prints will be up soon on my web site. www.hcpowell.com
